Day 25

Thursday Aug 25. Started at 2444.0 ended at 2457.3 for 13.3 miles today.

I have about a 5 mile walk to Stevens Pass where I will resupply and head to Leavensworth for 3 nights.

Boy, I had heard the the Northern Cascades and the PCT in Washington was beautiful - and it is!

Below are a few pics

This was so beautiful this morning

Day 24

Wednesday Aug 24. Started at 2430.8 ended at 2444.0 for 13.2 miles today.

I'm planning my miles so that I reach Stevens Pass Friday morning. I should get my resupply box at the ski lodge, then catch an 11:30 am bus into town.

Again, perfect weather today.

Day 23

Tuesday Aug 23. Two days ago started at 2390.6 ended at 2430.8 today for 40.2 trail miles over the past 2 days.

Felt better today, and good weather continues to hold.

Happy Birthday Kristen!

River

See the rock rivers coming down the side of this mountain?

Can't help posting multiple times about huckleberries. All along the trail, you don't even need to bend over. Perfectly ripe

This was a stunning lake!

Day 22

Monday Aug 22. Started at 2390.6 finished at...well, I took the Goldmeyer hot spring alternative so the miles won't match up. This alternative is a loop from the PCT. I'll get the miles straight tomorrow. I didn't stop at the hot springs.

Well, it was a tough day for me today. Trail had blow downs, was rocky, steep, and my back hurt.

After morning clouds, it became party cloudy and stayed cool.

Morning clouds, sun

A river of rock. Did they all tumble down at once or one at a time?

Lake

More sun and clouds

The trail had a rockslide. Rocks were loose, dangerous. I almost turned back

There's a water fall along the rock wall

Had to walk over this

Day 18

Thurs Aug 18. Started at 2370.4 ended at 2390.6 for 20.2 miles today.

Trip to-date miles are 246.7, almost 1/2 done.

Today was "Hamilton Day". I listened to the sound track 3 times through.

I talked to a local hiker who reminded me how fortunate I am to have good weather. The Pacific Northwest is known for rain! Currently high temps are the problem.

I made it to Snoqualmie Pass where I have a motel room. Back on the trail Monday. The next segment of my hike (Snoqualmie Pass to Skykomish) has the most extreme elevation changes.

Day 17

Wed Aug 17. Started at 2349.2 ended at 2370.4 for 21.2 miles today.

Another good weather day (getting close to being too warm). Saw some other hikers today.

All in all pretty routine-me vs the trail. I was pleased to do 21 miles today. Town is 20 miles away so I should make it tomorrow.

Huckleberries... Not sure if you can see them. Tons of them right by the trail
